MadMikeGamerXL1
Hi, I have left this program running all afternoon. Nothing has updated except the "Used space" going up and down randomly. At one point earlier today i had to completely restart as it stopped responding for no reason (although I hate this term in technology, there is always a reason!) My PC Specs are here before anything: CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core @ 3.40GHz RAM: Crucial 8GB DDR3 Motherboard: ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX Graphics Card: XFX AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB Double Dissipation Edition (whatever double dissipation means!) HDD: 1TB Hitatchi hard drive (742GB Used) OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit I have posted a screenshot of the main window. Thanks in advance, Mike EDIT: It does seem to be doing something, it is scanning files underneath the % of fragmentation, but it just doesnt seem to go quick enough. Hav0c
Hey there and welcome to the forum. This may be a shot in the dark, I have noticed from your screen shot your primary partition (OS C:) current usage stands at 743.2 (87%). That is a lot of files. The first thing that Defraggler does is build a Index of ALL the files on the partition you want to Defrag. Now according to, number of files and Index building time ratio, the more files you have the longer it will take to build the Index of ALL the files. The less files you have the faster the Index building process takes. Just give it time and do not open and close applications while trying to Defrag the partition. As this could delay the building process and in some cases corrupt the file being defrag. Something that you can try if you haven't already.Setup CCleaner and run it, this will remove all junk files lessening the amount of files to be Indexed. Moderators mta Posted July 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 24, 2014 and to aid the process further, running DF with the PC in Safe Mode should give even faster results as background tasks will not be running. Thanks for the reply, this seems to have worked, after ~4 days of leaving it running, it has seemed to finally complete. Well, it is at 99%, but only has about 40 minutes. and to aid the process further, running DF with the PC in Safe Mode should give even faster results as background tasks will not be running. Thanks for that tip, i will definitely keep this in mind for next time. Thanks again guys.
Hav0c
Glad it worked even after ~4 days.My habit is, when I want to run BF, I run CC first and let BF run over night. But in my case it doesnt take as long as yours did, due to my partitions are a lot smaller. For example my OS partition is only 60gb. Every line of code written by man can be undone by man .
