I have a Microsoft Surface tablet and lost some pictures. Is there any programs that could help retrieve them.

I am running win 8.1 and did not have file history on. Any programs I try say it cant run. I have not used it since the loss happened.

Thank you for any help.

the Surface has the RT architecture which is not compatible with ANY normal Windows software that doesn't run on a RISC OS.

the Pro's are the ones that would run CC for example.

Backup now & backup often.

 I didn't say that but afaik that is the case.

The surface (non pro) is just a glorified tablet, and not a full PC so you cannot run any PC software sorry

have you checked the Recycle Bin? (just in case)

since the Surface RT wasn't a big seller, and software for it is only available through the Store, chances of getting a file recovery program are probably zero.

if the files are important enough, and I have no idea if this is even possible or if it will wreck the Surface, but it may be possible to pull it about, remove the flash storage and connect it to another device for retrieval.  lots of 'what ifs' with that option and it all depends on the importance of the data lost.
