Help! Windows 8.1 "Scan Disk Fix"

RangerSy

Recommended Posts

i popped in my external HDD to pull off my +10 years of Documents to be placed back onto my rig.   When I plugged in the E.HDD, Windows 8.1 prompted me to 'Fix' the disk, there might be some errors.

I honestly never do a disk fix, I wasn't thinking about it due to a distraction and when I opened the 'Documents' folder it was completely empty!

The other folders with music and downloads and everything else seems to be there but the "documents" folder is empty....  HELP!

I immediately tried to retrieve the files using Recurva and it said it found 31000 files but it won't show them to me.  I went into the settings and turned on 'non-deleted' files but it still won't show it to me.

What do I do now?  It's not a external HDD that I have plugged in all the time, but I CAN'T loose all that data.  HELP MEH!

Some additional info:

Windows 8.1; Seagate external HDD 3.0; Just happened yesterday for the first time; full version of Recurva; Currently set to 35 passes?
