no more sound after using CC

Hello to all,

using CC for many years without any problems.

Last time I run CC just before closing my PC, as I always do.

Next morning I noticeds that all my icons on the opening screen were gone off my desktop and that I had no sound at all.

I got the icons back but I still could'nt find teh way to set the sound again.

Any suggestions or solution to have the sound back ?

Thank you for your help  -  byp

Hello Andavari,

Thank you for your quick answer and my apologies for late answer, I was away a few days.

I did not use  CC's registry cleaner, only the normal cleaner for windows & applications. Apparently I cannot find a backup.

It seems that CC has wiped out "something", and I dont know what...

@byp,

There is no backup for the crap removal side of things, only the registry cleaning.  So you can stop looking on that front.

CC should not have effected the sound directly, so I'm thinking your PC (somehow) may have had the sound driver residing in a temporary location, or at least a location that got cleaned.

I would be reloading the sound driver which should get the sound back.

Just to get the obvious out the way first, make sure the speakers are plugged in to power, turned on, and turned up.  Then in Windows, check they are not muted and turned up and plugged into the green line-out jack.

A quick fix at reloading the sound driver would be to uninstall it from Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Sound Video and Game Controllers, right click your sound card and choose Uninstall.

Reboot the PC and Windows should detect New Hardware Found and have a crack at reinstalling it for you.

If that doesn't get it done, it'll be a trip to the motherboard manufacturers website, or the sound card manufacturers website if you have an add-on card, and download the latest software driver for you make/model of sound card and for you Windows version.

Backup now & backup often.

Something else to check with the speakers if they're powered is an electricity blackout and sometimes a fluctuation of the electricity can cause some to stop working until they're powered-off, unplugged, plugged in, and then powered-on.

good morning mta & Andavari,

once again thanks for spending time with my little problem and, again, sorry  to be late in answering but i am currently working abroad far away from my PC.

mtc, I will follow your recommendations and will let you know of the outcome.

Andavari, the speakers are all OK, it was the first thing I checked.

Please allow me a little time to get back to my PC. Have a nice day

Hello to all,

again, sorry to be late with my answers, I'm back now in my office after spending more time than scheduled overseas.

Thanks for all your suggestions and help.

Finally after checking all sorts of possibilities, I ran a chek of all my pilots (with winzip pilots contoller) and there it was ! Everything is functionning correctly again.

Nevertheless, I wonder if my settings withCCleaner are correct, and I am not too familiar with what should be selected or not.

Her is an image of both my selections in the "windows" and "applications"-

Could you please tell me what to select or deselect ?

Once again thanks !

under the Windows tab, if you don't won't to lose your Most Recent Used items, remove the first 3 ticks under Explorateur Windows.

similarly under the Applications tab, untick Office 2003 if you want Word, Excel etc to remember your last 10 files you opened.

but that's just my personal preference.
