CCleaner crash Windows 7 Services !

So, this is the problem that i was getting in my new Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits installation without knowing the culprit:

QUOTE

if i try to disable a service from manual or automatic, no problems, but when i try to go from disable to manual or automatic, i receive a message error: The system cannot find the path specified. But if a go to registry, i can change the startup type with no problems and it works, but for some reason, after the change (Man/Auto to Dis then change from dis to Man/Auto on registry)when i try to change from manual or automatic to disable like before, now i´ve got the same error. Any idea what is going wrong ?

So i´ve decide reinstall everything again and test with image points (using acronis trueimage). Every thing was fine until i´ve run CCleaner (not registry). After the clean, the problems starts. With some " restore/test" i´ve discovered the problem:

QUOTE

When you check Advanced Windows files/IIS Log Files, CCleaner clean inside this folder: C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles. Unfortunately, inside this folder there is another folder called Scm, which unlike other windows versions (XP doesn´t have it; Vista 32 have it with SCM.EVM file that can´t be deleted), is empty on 7. So CCleaner understand that this folder can be deleted, and the problem with services starts to occurs.

Recreating this folder, all problems go away.
So, my recomendation is: disable IIS Log files clean !!!
Maybe a next release of CCleaner can also ignore this folder by default, even with IIS Log files enable.

Improve Better Cleaning, in CCleaner

CCleaner has been Rated #1, for cleaning your PC of Debris, Tracking, Harddrive Space etc..

But it's NOT the best(that I have found) and other Software are in the same line.

For People like me to whom would like to Protect their Privacy etc., I have found that CCleaner even when you use the "Secure File Deletion - 35x" setting that Data can be recovered using "Recuva", which means that if a FREE Software can recover Deleted Data, it's NOT being erased "permanently" as people are assuming. Even items in the Recycle Bin can be recovered, in my opinion, that is NOT secure file deletion!

How, I know cus I've tried to cover Internet Browsing History, Deleted Recycle Bins items, & even Empty Space from the HD, all were recovered, in a matter of mins.

Needless to say that I am impressed with CCleaner, it does remove what it states But unfortunately NOT permanently

I would like to Suggest that there can be improvements to make sure that anything that is deleted, is permanently gone, and can't be recovered by any means, maybe change the "Secure File Deletion" settings from 35x to 100x or even unlimited. But make sure that it works, & permanently!

Keep uo the Good Work!

Very bizarre problem with startup programs... (I don't think it's a bug)

Hello,

First off, I'd like to say that I've been using CCleaner for roughly a year now and I love it. Recently, however, CCleaner has been forcefully disabling programs meant to run at startup without my control. I have tested this problem very thoroughly, and I'm 100% sure CCleaner is related to the problem. I believe it all begins with CCleaner's list of startup items. Two programs in particular (Steam and Rocket Dock) do not show up in its list of programs it allows to start once Windows starts; they do, however, appear in the list of start up items when running "msconfig". CCleaner, for some reason, seems to completely override msconfig.

To test if it was absolutely CCleaner, I uninstalled the program and restart my computer; alas, both Steam and Rocket Dock appeared once the welcome screen faded. I tried reinstalling CCleaner to see if it was just a hiccup with the program and noticed it actually unchecked the "Run at Windows Startup" boxes in both programs after it had installed again (rechecking them and restarting changes nothing). Also, to make sure it was not a recent version, I downloaded a much earlier version (1.3X, or something of that nature) and the issue persisted.

Has this issue ever been documented before? Is there any known solution? I would love to continue using CCleaner, but if this is a problem that is going to continue I really have no choice but to keep it uninstalled. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Oops, the title is meant to be "Very bizarre problem with startup PROGRAMS...". Fell asleep at the wheel there.

Vista Shadow Copy

I wonder if you guys can add Vista shadow copy support to CCleaner? I have not yet tested Windows 7 to see if it causes the same problem, but I do know that System Restore & Shadow copies appear to be 2 separate things.

Any chance to add to CCleaner the option to remove the shadow copies just like you have support built in for System Restore Point control & removal?

It appears that many users report losing 30 GB or more, just to shadow copies, which, I believe, can happen while running Defraggler in Vista, in addition to other things. 30 GB, 50 GB, it is a LOT of wasted space. The average uninformed user just has no idea where it went!

Perhaps an option to disable Shadow Copy service (And reclaim free space?) or at least the ability to remove shadow copies!

Does anyone else here agree with me? Is shadow copy support (ability to control & remove 30 + GB garbage on Vista) important to anyone else here?

Wordwheel filtering textboxes

Guys something that is very much used today is wordwheel filtering textboxes... I think you should implement this as better way to search in result information! Will be very good to filter analize result to find something you wanna deleted and then select only that thing to be erased...

Wordwheels help you to find more actively a word in a gigant bunch of words while you are writting... is like search in real time... so if you don't know exactly the name of the file for example... you could enter a part of the word and all the other will disappear give you a more detailed view of the files and names... so you can find it faster...

Please think about it... this could be a very good adition for next releases...

I am suggesting this cause now I am having such a bad time finding a Regestry key issue in whole list!
